GOLD Coast developer Aniko Group is finalising its plans for a $1 billion landmark project in Mermaid Beach, as its acquisition of the major development site goes unconditional.
Sitting adjacent to the entrance of Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, the 1.1342-hectare vacant site at Seaview Avenue is one of the Gold Coast Highway corridor’s largest landholdings and has been earmarked for a master-planned residential, hotel, waterfront dining and office development.
Aniko plans to deliver four residential towers of 25-, 30-, 40- and 45-storeys, comprising around 1,000 apartments including resort style amenities.
While the ground floor of the development will include a fine dining precinct across the site’s 100 metres of waterfront to the west of the property.
This in addition to more than 5,000sqm commercial A-grade office space at the Plus Architecture-designed project.
“We have developed a scheme that includes an activated ground-floor waterfront fine dining precinct that will elevate our resident and visitor experience,” George Mastrocostas, managing director at Aniko Group.
“Stepping up off the ground into commercial offices provides a supply of new office space that the area has been seeking.”
With the site’s easy access and connectivity underpinned by its access to the Broadbeach South light rail station and bus interchange, Aniko envisions the project as becoming the southern gateway to Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise.
“Mermaid Beach has become the Gold Coast’s most dynamic beachside suburb, and this development will create a new beating heart for the area,” added Mastrocostas.
“This will be a unique community within one of the Gold Coast’s most desirable beachside suburbs that not only offers easy access to the beach and central Broadbeach but is truly a lifestyle location featuring the Gold Coast Exhibition Centre, Star Casino, Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and central Broadbeach all in the one precinct.”
Mark Witheriff, managing director at CBRE Gold Coast, negotiated the sale of the Seaview Avenue site.
This latest update follows the developer achieving a near sell-out at its latest Hope Island development, with $53 million in sales leading the company to fast-track construction.
Aniko Group is nearing finalisation of its plans for the Mermaid Beach site and expects to lodge a development application for approval in the coming months.
