WHOLESALER Costco has confirmed plans for a $50 million development over 6.5 hectares in Ipswich that will become its second Queensland store and 10th nationwide.
The site is within the $1 billion Walker Corporation Citiswich Business Park, and the US-based retailer has lodged a proposal for a 13,750 sqm store, a petrol station and 825 parking spaces across the Ashburn Road site.
Costco is looking to open the store in the second half of 2018, which will join the retailer’s North Lakes site in the state.
The announcement comes shortly after it opened its Marsden Park store north-west of Sydney, and as it looks to open a fourth Melbourne site in the northern suburb of Epping.
Recent weeks saw Costco reveal plans to launch an Australian online store within the next 18 months as Amazon’s introduction to country looms on the horizon.
