THE City of Port Phillip has acquired a commercial site in Fishermans Bend for $38.8 million, currently occupied by Australia Post.
The 1,500sqm site at 509 Williamstown Road sits adjacent to the North Port Oval and is occupied by Australia Post’s Port Melbourne Business Centre, which is set to move nearby.
The Port Phillip Council is set to use the site for public space and a modern sport and broader recreation facility, following community consultation. With feedback to be sought out from residents and stakeholders including local sporting groups.
“This future-proofing investment will allow the Fishermans Bend community to enjoy sport, walk their dogs or simply relax under a tree,” said Heather Cunsolo, mayor of the city of Port Phillip.
“We want to create a special space that helps Australia’s largest urban renewal project live up to its amazing potential.”
