COLLINS Street’s last-standing terrace houses have changed hands with a price tag believed to be in the range of $30 million.
Built in 1872 as consulting rooms, the National Trust-listed buildings at 86-88 Collins Street, in the ritzy east end of Melbourne’s CBD, are tenanted by bar Doc Martins and the Collins Quarter eatery on downstairs, footwear retailer Christian Louboutin on the ground floor and Mike Fitzpatrick’s 88 Green Ventures in the offices upstairs.
The vendor was businessman Ian Hicks, with the Hicks family having held the asset since 1992. The new owner is Print Media Group’s Leo Moio.
CBRE negotiated the off-market deal, after the property had been listed publicly last year.
The terraces are a few metres from the adjoining 52 Collins and 60 Collins Street sites that Dexus recently acquired in separate deals for $70 million and $160 million respectively, with plans to build a $650 million office complex.
