PAUL Keating’s lawyer has been revealed as the buyer of a $22 million sub-penthouse in Sydney’s exclusive Elizabeth Bay, hot on the heels of the development’s penthouse selling for nearly $30 million.
Chris Coudounaris, lawyer and business associate to former Prime Minister Keating and former Strathfield chairman has been named as the buyer of the whole-floor, 400 sqm residence in the Billyard Ave development.
The 430 sqm penthouse was bought by Matt Allen, the former head of UBS Japan whose yacht Ichi Ban won the famous Sydney to Hobart four times. He sold his Darling Point waterfront home last year for $60 million.
His acquisition at the Elizabeth Bay project is an apartment record for the eastern suburbs.
Billyard Avenue is being developed by Philippe Remond, of P3 Living and Peter Walsh of North East Corp, with interiors designed by SJB. Due for completion a year from now, it will comprise nine north-facing four-bedroom apartments large balconies and views of the harbour. Six remain, ranging from 350 sqm to 400 sqm, with prices beginning at $16 million for a garden apartment up to $22 million for another sub-penthouse.
Jason Boon and Andrew Hoggett of Richardson & Wrench Potts Point sold both the penthouse and sub-penthouse.
The development is opposite Lindsay Fox’s Boomerang mansion.
Coudounaris and his wife Antonia have had a busy year trading homes. They sold their Bellevue Hill home in May for $15 million and then divested a Potts Point terrace for $10.6 million.
