LENDLEASE’s $45 million office tower in Joondalup has been given the go ahead, with the development expected to supercharge the city’s economy.
The ten-storey building, located on the corner of Collier Pass and Grand Boulevard, will include 10,000sqm of NLA, as well as a ground floor café and childcare centre, with floors one to six to be used as office space.
The approved development application, for the Hames Sharley designed tower, was lodged on behalf of Lendlease.
“The development aims to see an influx of employees to the area and provide a significant economic boost for the Joondalup city centre during and after working hours,” said Dean Symington, office & industrial portfolio leader at Hames Sharley.
Sitting opposite Joondalup’s Central Park, the site will also include two levels of basement parking and a pedestrian bridge with connections to the Lakeside Joondalup Shopping Centre and the Joondalup train station.
“The project will also provide a prominent landmark at the corner of Grand Boulevard and Collier Pass and plays a significant role in the city’s long-term activity centre plan,” added Symington.
Albert Jacob, mayor of the City of Joondalup, welcomed the approval in a statement, continuing that the Lendlease development would be a “major economic boost” for the CBD and will create between 800 and 1,000 permanent new jobs.
This followed news that the group will cut up to 400 jobs as the group moves to more than double its development completions to $8 billion and funds under management to $70 billion.
After Lendlease reported $181 million loss over FY21for its non core segment, despite some improvements on the previous year.
