MIRVAC has kicked off construction on the second stage of its $1.2 billion Ascot Green community in Brisbane, which will have 1,300 workers on site throughout construction until late 2021.
Tulloch House, the eight level, $77 million apartment complex will be built by the listed developer’s building arm, Mirvac Construction.
Located within the Eagle Farm Racecourse precinct, Ascot Green is the first racecourse fronting apartment project to be delivered in Australia.
Brisbane Racing Club’s masterplan redevelopment includes luxury apartments, retirement living and aged care, commercial offices, a mix of retail, dining, medical services along with childcare and a swim school.
Tulloch House features one, two and three bedroom apartments. Neighbouring Ascot House recently completed comprising 90 apartments across nine levels, with only three apartments remaining.
Mirvac general manager of residential development in Queensland, Warwick Bible said construction of Tulloch House is a demonstration of the demand for quality developments with owner occupier appeal and Mirvac’s commitment to the Brisbane market.
“We completed the site works for this phase of the project as part of the delivery of our first building, Ascot House, meaning we can now hit the ground running with construction of Tulloch House,” he said. “We know how important it is for local construction workers and suppliers that new projects like Tulloch House continue to go ahead in this climate, and we are in a strong position to do that.”
The apartments are being built alongside 50 hectares of green open space.
Neville Bell, chairman of the Brisbane Racing Club, said it was more important than ever to move forward with projects like Tulloch House.
Brisbane Racing Club has already delivered a number of projects in the precinct including the Racecourse Village Shopping Centre and childcare facility. Construction is underway on the new Ascot Aquatics Centre and a retirement living and aged care project. It is also planning a new commercial office building.
Mirvac has just lodged a development application for the next stage of its $1 billion Waterfront Newstead community on the Brisbane River. Last year, the group received the green light for its controversial twin residential towers project next door at 60 Skyring Tce.
