BROOKFIELD has added financial services group Moelis Australia to the tenant roll-call at its $2 billion project connecting Wynyard station and George Street in Sydney’s CBD.
ASX-listed Moelis Australia has committed to 3,800 sqm across levels 26 and 27, as well as part of level 25 in the main office tower, on a seven-year term commencing in February 2022. It will join anchor tenants NAB, Allianz, Brookfield and flexible workspace operator Hub Australia.
Multiplex is adding the finishing touches to the 27-level tower at the Brookfield Place project, which topped out in August. The 10 Carrington Street tower has a total net lettable area of 59,000 sqm and the centrepiece of the development, also comprising the restoration of Shell House and 285 George Street.
The firm manages more than $5.4 billion of assets on behalf of third-party investors in addition to advising on transactions worth over $110 billion.
Carl Schibrowski, executive vice president & co-head of Brookfield Properties said more than 90% of the available area in tower is now committed.
“While COVID has impacted some economic activity, we continue to see good demand for high quality space right across Australia.”
Brookfield has five sister assets under the Brookfield Place name, in New York, Toronto, Calgary, Dubai, and the future headquarters of oil and gas giant Chevron in Perth, in which Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC has just taken a 25% interest.
The Sydney edition was designed in collaboration by Make Architects and Architectus.
About 7,000 sqm of high-end retail, a revitalised Wynyard Lane and a major upgrade to Wynyard Station’s George Street entrance are also features.
Moelis was represented by Kath Moss, director of occupier services at Savills Australia who said: “When COIVD-19 pandemic fears were running high, economic recession was inevitable and it was unclear if (rather than when) the majority would return to an office, Moelis Australia jumped at the chance to secure their new headquarters with a point of difference.”
