- What Stefan Slot makes the move from Townline to Porte Communities
- Why He will lead Porte’s development, marketing and construction teams
- What next Porte has 14 development projects underway
Vancouver-based developer and investor Porte Communities has appointed Stefan Slot as vice president of development, Green Street News can reveal.
With 18 years in the businesses, Slot made the move after nearly a decade at Townline, where he was vice president of development.
At Porte, Slot will lead the development, marketing and construction teams. He reports to president David Porte.
Slot said he has his eye on Calgary, where development has been particularly active.
“For a couple years, Porte has been active in Calgary and that’s where I started my career,” he told Green Street News. “I’m excited to get back into Calgary.”
He pointed to the recent approval from Calgary City Council for a new rental project on the city’s famous Red Mile as an example of the action there.
Porte has 14 active development projects underway across Western Canada, with half of them expected to complete this year. They will add more than 500 homes to British Columbia’s Lower Mainland and Calgary.
Despite some economic uncertainty, Slot believes it will be a positive year for the industry, and the company is still looking for other development sites in Calgary.
Vancouver, he said, has a slower market, but the company still has some projects on the go and will be looking at ways to help move newly finished product.
“There will be some completed inventory that we’ll have to get creative with on our sales program, which I’m excited about,” he said.
