BUILDER and developer Vaughan Constructions has opened a new office in Brisbane in response to a thriving industrial market across south east Queensland.
Managing director, Andrew Noble said the new 60 Gloucester St, Spring Hill office would facilitate the company’s growing project pipeline potential across the state.
He said the increase in enquiry had followed the firm’s work on the Sheraton Mirage at Port Douglas, and the announcement of an agreement to build a $40 million warehouse for McPhee Distribution Services at Berrinba.
The 15,000 sqm warehouse is due for completion in June. It is estimated that 400 construction-related contractor jobs will be required during construction with around 50 jobs required once operational.
The company has a $700 million construction and development portfolio in new markets.
Last month, Matthew and Ken Vaughan revealed they would sell down their stakes in the 65 year old family owned business and appointed Deloitte to find joint venture of capital partners.
Noble said, and south east Queensland in particular, would benefit from significant infrastructure investment, including massive road and rail projects, which has and will continue to attract industrial and other users.
Established in Melbourne, Vaughan’s portfolio includes the 45-metre-high-bay Southern Regional Distribution Centre for Woolworths in Melbourne, and is currently working on Australia’ largest distribution centre in Melbourne’s north valued at over $150 million, which had been planned for Kaufland before the German hypermarket giant pulled the plug on its Australian plans.
Vaughan has also built distribution facilities for Dulux, Aldi, and Coca-Cola, as well as industrial estates and business parks, including the $375 million Biodiversity Industrial Estate in Epping.
