A DEVELOPMENT application for Lendlease’s $80 million Gold Creek Homestead development in the ACT, which will be an extension to the adjoining The Grove Retirement Village, and new residential aged care facility have been approved.
The Grove extension will deliver 45 new two- and three-bedroom independent villas with internal garage access and private covered alfresco entertaining. The project will also include a separate 124-bed residential aged care facility to be delivered by Arcare Aged Care.
The historic Gold Creek Homestead will be retained, restored and activated, becoming a purpose-built amenity space surrounded by green open space and manicured gardens for residents and the greater community to enjoy.
Future residents of The Grove’s Gold Creek extension will have access to leisure facilities such as an exclusive clubhouse complete with a library, gym, heated indoor swimming pool, village green and gardens, connected walking trails.
Construction of the Gold Creek Homestead development will create trade and technical jobs throughout the development and build phase, as well as operational jobs for the aged care facility and retirement village on completion.
Construction on both the precinct and aged care residence is expected to start in the middle of the year, with new villas available for purchase later in 2023.
“Receiving the green light from council to get started on our new development brings us one step closer to delivering a vibrant, intergenerational community that is sustainable, inclusive and builds on our existing connection with the local area,” said John Bruzzaniti, general manager of development VIC/ACT, Lendlease, adding that the new precinct will also help meet the high demand for independent living retirement homes and residential aged care in Canberra.
