THE founder and chairman of Deicorp, Fouad Deiri OAM, has been named the 2023 Urban Taskforce Australia Property Person of the Year.
Deiri given the honour in recognition of his contribution to the property development sector over the last 24 years.
“Fouad Deiri is the epitome of success in our sector, having grown up in Sydney’s West, starting work as a Carpenter, forming his own building company and in 1999, establishing Deicorp and rising to be a powerhouse of property construction,” said Tom Forrest, chief executive at Urban Taskforce.
“Deicorp has completed over 10,000 apartments in over 40 suburbs of Greater Sydney, with 3,200 dwellings currently under construction at Westmead, Tallawong, Showgrounds, Castle Hill and Gosford.”
Deicorp also boasts a near term pipeline of 4,500 apartments due across Five Dock, Showgrounds, Parramatta and Melrose Park, all located near transport infrastructure.
“Fouad Deiri and his team at Deicorp have been relentless builders and highly successful developers of mixed-use residential communities around transport nodes for decades,” said David Tanevski, founding director and hon secretary treasurer at Urban Taskforce.
“Fouad Deiri never stopped building during and after Covid. When things got tough for our sector, with interest rates and construction costs going up, Fouad Deiri backed himself and his team to continue to produce the housing Sydney so desperately needs.
“For this, Fouad Deiri has been a stand-out industry leader and entrepreneur, delivering thousands of apartments every year.”
In 2020, Deiri established Deicorp Community, a philanthropic and charitable program to contribute to initiatives aimed at building stronger communities, including Northwest Community Services and Hills Community Aid.
The Property Person of the Year award will be presented to Fouad Deiri OAM at a celebratory fundraising charity dinner on 15th November.
“It is a great honour to be named Urban Taskforce Property Person of the Year and a pleasure to support both Warrah Society and St Vincent’s Prostate Cancer Centre,” said Deiri.
