ONE of the world’s largest food and packaging distributors has secured a site in Brisbane Airport’s, signing up for a new 8,000 sqm temperature-controlled distribution centre.
Brisbane Airport Corporation will deliver the new facility centre within the 100-hectare Airport Industrial Park for Martin Brower, which providers global supply chain solutions for to major leading brands.
The distribution centre will deliver chilled, frozen, and ambient storage capability. The 23,702 sqm site will also provide refuelling, truck wash, and weighbridge facilities, and parking for 60 cars and 13 heavy vehicles.
Martin Ryan, Brisbane Airport Corporation’s executive general manager of commercial, said both organisations are committed to embedding sustainability into the project.
“Martin Brower aligns with Brisbane Airport’s sustainability strategy and ongoing transformation to a dynamic airport community where the value chain of a business can be consolidated in a single, well-connected location,” Ryan said.
The warehouse has been designed to suit Martin Brower’s requirements and incorporates a range of sustainability features and initiatives, targeting a 5-Star Green Star rating.
A sod turning ceremony with representatives from Brisbane Airport, Martin Brower, and builder, Tomkins Commercial, signaled the commencement of construction on the site.
Development is expected to be completed in early 2025.
Once operational, the facility will provide jobs for approximately 100 people.
Martin Brower’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand, Scott Hanigan, said the site will play a pivotal role in helping Martin Brower achieve a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030.
The new distribution centre allows the company to double its capacity in Queensland.
Martin Brower will join Aramex Australia, Superior Food Services and Air Menzies at Airport Industrial Park.
