The 1876 Victorian Gothic-style conversion at 14c Jane Street was snapped up by Thomas Bailey, from Penny James, former Colonial First State board member, and Stephen James, retired healthcare worker.
The heritage-listed property sits on a 676sqm landholding has dual street frontages to Jane Street and Fawcett Street and features ceilings that reach up to eight metres across the expansive four-level floorplan.
The home boats a self-contained guestroom and self-contained apartment at the rear, as well as seven bathrooms and the upper levels making up a retreat featuring his and her bathrooms and dressing rooms, an open living area and private balcony that captures with city views.
This in addition to secure parking for two or more cars, a dedicated 600 bottle wine cellar, workshop, gym, sauna and council approval to install a swimming pool in the garden.
Originally built as by 19th century by colonial architect Edmund Blacket as a convent for the Immaculate Conception, the property housed 10 sisters of the good Samaritan along with 30 boarders, before being used as a Montessori School until it was converted for residential use in 2002.
