GLOBAL tech giant Google has signed a deal with Goodman Group to purchase land at the Goodman Business Park in Greater Tokyo, where it plans to build a data centre – its first in Japan.
Located in Chiba New Town, the Goodman Business Park is located in a seismically stable inland region outside of flooding zones.
This will be Google’s first data centre in Japan. Google said this investment meets the growing needs of Google Japan’s customers, such as Cloud and it will share further details in the near future.
Goodman Japan CEO Angus Brooks said a global company of this calibre selecting the Goodman Business Park as a data centre location in Japan, solidifies the potential of the precinct as a technology hub and centre of local and global innovation.
“In addition, the presence of Google at Goodman Business Park is expected to bring a significant positive economic impact to Chiba New Town and Inzai City,” he added.
Goodman Business Park is a master-planned logistics and business precinct and on completion, it will provide over 900,000 sqm of built space.
