NEARLY 60 years of family ownership has come to an end at the 1,678-hectare Woodlea Park fattening and breeding station, selling via online auction yesterday for $11.75 million.
Located close to Yass and the Hume Highway at 639 Lachlan Valley Way, Bowning, the property has been conservatively rated to carry 5,000 crossbred ewes and 200 Angus breeding cows, at least 17,500 dry sheep equivalent.
Working improvements include a four stand electric wool shed, three sets of sheep yards, one set of cattle yards, fodder and machinery shedding and 80-tonne silo capacity, with accommodation includes a four-bedroom brick manager’s residence and two staff and guest cottages.
The sale price exceeded reported expectations of fetching a price tag of between $10 million and $11 million, and attracted bids from five parties at auction.
Chris Meares and Vickie Jeffrey of Meares & Associates sold the property on behalf of Margaret Doyle, whose father took on the site in 1959. It was sold under the hammer via Auctionworks.
Originally the property covered around 800 hectares and has been added to since.
