CATERPILLAR Logistics has committed to a new 46,500 sqm parts distribution centre at Yatala Brisbane and is on the lookout for a similar property in Melbourne.
The new centre is located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and when it is completed in mid-2013, it will employ up to 150 people.
Caterpillar vice president and Cat Logistics president Steve Larson said the new facility will be an important link in the Cat parts distribution network and will support the Cat dealers in Australia.
“This investment in a key market for Cat products is the next step in the multiyear expansion of our global parts distribution network. We are focused on ensuring our customers’ success through a global, high velocity network that delivers the industry’s best parts availability,” he added.
The Yatala facility is only the seventh new parts distribution center for Cat Logistics globally, and will join other facilities in Waco, Texas; Clayton, Ohio; Spokane, Washington; Central California in the United States.
Outside of the US, the facilities are at Dubai, United Arab Emirates and recently announced San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Cat Logistics is currently looking to open facilities in Grimbergen, Belgium; and Shanghai, China and in Melbourne.
