BILLIONAIRE James Packer has forked out $60 million for a luxury apartment in the Crown Sydney Resort, setting a new record for the most expensive apartment sold.
In a statement, Crown announced that it has reached in-principle agreement Packer to sell two floors of the Crown Sydney Residences at the Crown Sydney Hotel Resort.
“The floors are located above the mid-levels of the Crown Sydney Hotel Resort. The sale documentation will be on the same, or materially the same, terms as the documents to be entered into with other purchasers,” Crown said.
Located at One Barangaroo, the Crown Sydney Hotel Resort will be Sydney’s first six-star luxury hotel and will comprise 350 hotel rooms and 82 luxury apartments.
The sale smashes previous $26 million record for a penthouse within the Opera Residences in Sydney, set in November last year.
Prior to that, the record was held by Melbourne’s Australia 108 tower, which sold its penthouse for $25 million.
