AFTER more than 50 years of ownership, polo and business identity Peter Yunghanns has put the 5,071-hectare Yaloak Estate in Ballan up for sale, with expectations of more than $50 million.
Yaloak Estate, at 4662 Geelong-Ballan Rd, is around 60 kilometres from Melbourne and is being marketed through Colliers and Kidder Williams.
The property is currently operated as a cropping and grazing enterprise, and has been touted as the “biggest land banking opportunity to come to the market in recent years”. About 2,003 hectares of the land is suitable for cropping, with the balance predominately utilised for grazing. More than 1,000 horses are stabled on the site.
Improvements include the circa 1890 Yaloak Estate Homestead, seven additional residences and the renowned Yaloak Polo Club, which is regular host to opulent polo events.
Yaloak Estate also generates passive income from a wind farm agreement.
The listing follows a protracted and ultimately unsuccessful hearing in the Supreme Court with former president of the Federation of International Polo, Nicholas Colquhoun-Denvers, in which both parties sued each other for defamation. Both claims were dismissed last month.
