BROOKFIELD Properties re-investment in Brookfield Place in Perth has paid off with BHP signing a new 15-year lease commitment.
The leading global resources company has signed on for circa 41,000sqm of space at the Tower 1 development off St Georges Terrace in the Perth CBD, having first been secured at the anchor tenant at the development back in 2012.
“We are thrilled to be able to continue what has been a great long-term partnership with BHP and to re-imagine their WA Head Office for their future workplace needs,” said Danny Poljak, executive vice president and co-head at Brookfield Properties.
Brookfield is set to undertake a major re-investment into both the Brookfield Place tower and precinct, with upgrades planned for the Tower 1 lobby, end of trip facilities and services, in addition to creating circa 8,000sqm of flexible space to accommodate BHP’s on-demand needs.
“This re-commitment by BHP is a further endorsement of Brookfield Place as a premium address in the heart of the Perth CBD; a precinct that is defined by its outstanding office accommodation, strong sustainability credentials, diverse retail and wellness amenities, along with its year-round arts and cultural activations,” added Poljack.
“We look forward to celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Brookfield Place in August when we will once again host our signature Winter Lights Festival. This year promises to be the biggest and most exciting event yet.”
Brookfield Place in Perth currently features a 5 Star NABERS Base Building Energy Rating, as well as a 6 Star NABERS Indoor Environment Rating.
“BHP is focused on providing its people with the best amenities in the city centre and will work alongside Brookfield to ensure the space reflects our hybrid way of working, with wellness facilities and culturally-respectful surroundings in line with our social value principles,” said Brandon Craig, iron ore asset president at BHP, WA.
