The BMI Group has purchased a former paper mill in Port Huron, Mich., marking the company’s entry into the U.S. market and its seventh mill acquisition.
The Tillsonburg, Ont.-based company plans to redevelop the 44-acre site into a logistics terminal, dubbed the Port Huron Multimodal Hub. The site will undergo environmental remediation, selective demolition, asset disposition, and redevelopment of key site areas.
Formerly the E.B. Eddy Paper mill, the property comprises 350,000 sq ft of leasable indoor and outdoor storage. It has seven loading docks and cranes, as well as 1,000 ft of Black River frontage, direct rail access and trucking infrastructure.
