A DIPLOMA Group subsidiary has been awarded a $60 million construction contract for the first stage of the Genesis Office Park project in Western Australia, being developed by Macquarie Bank.
The Genesis Office Park is located in East Victoria Park.
The first stage of the development consists of two office buildings of five and six levels respectively.
Stage two of the development will add a further office building to the total project.
Diploma Construction’s managing director John Norup said the contract was significant in that it shifted the balance of sector work for the group towards a larger degree of commercial construction work.
“This shift in focus is part of the group’s overall strategy and provides the company with another platform from which to expand our services,” he added.
Construction of the first stage is expected to start by September 2008.
Together with Stamford Property Group’s Hay St Office building, one of five new projects secured earlier this month, this project will take the current contracted work book for the group to well in excess of $450 million.
