LEIGHTON Properties and Devine Limited's KSD development at Hamilton Harbour in Brisbane has signed its first major tenant.
With construction now underway on KSD’s first commercial building, set to open in late 2012, Domino’s Pizza has signed to move its corporate headquarters there.
Hamilton Harbour project director John Campbell said the lease was a significant milestone for Leighton Properties and Devine and followed the recent announcement of Woolworths as key retail tenant.
“Attracting major businesses likes Domino’s to KSD is set to boost the area as a major commercial hub and benefit the entire local economy,” he added.
Domino’s has secured 2,513 sqm of commercial office space across two of the building’s five levels, in a 15-year-lease negotiated by Jones Lang LaSalle’s Don Mackenzie and Tom Barr.
Domino’s chief development officer Pat McMichael said 140 staff will move to KSD in early 2013 from the company’s current Albion headquarters, with the new space providing additional room to grow.
KSD offers a total of 6,500 sqm of commercial space in a variety of flexible office configurations and 5,000 sqm of retail space.
“With close proximity to both Brisbane Airport and Brisbane CBD via Kingsford Smith Drive and the Brisbane River and the benefits of public transport and basement car parking for staff and customers, we hope to announce more new tenants for the precinct soon,” Campbell said.
The opening of KSD will also coincide with the completion of Hamilton Harbour’s third and final residential tower, the 20-level Riverside Hamilton. Existing residential towers Hamilton One and Hamilton Two were completed in late 2011 and are now home to hundreds of residents.
