JUSTIN Hemmes’ Merivale Group has gone on a shopping spree again, forking out more than $30 million for Bondi’s Royal Hotel.
This is the third major purchase for Hemmes after he spent $23 million last month to buy the Vic on the Park in Marrickville from John Singleton and Geoff Dixon’s Australian Pub Fund and prior to that, the Collaroy Hotel for $21 million.
Established in 1904, the iconic pub has been in Bondi publican Geoff Moulding’s family for 40 years.
The multi-storey brick pub sits on a 1,327 sqm site.
The sale was handled by JLL Hotels’ John Musca.
