Multiplex has started construction in the $250 million Bluewater development at Trinity Beach on Cairns’ northern beaches.
The project is Multiplex Development’s first major Far North Queensland residential project.
Bluewater will have just over 750 residential allotments and a 120-berth marina boasting direct deepwater access to the Coral Sea and the Great Barrier Reef.
Multiplex Development’s managing director for land Anthony Rowbottam said the next six years would see construction work valued at more than $60 million undertaken at the Bluewater site.
“This site has been dormant for more than a decade and despite many people championing their plans for it, Multiplex is now delivering through the commencement of construction of what will be the best residential address in Far North Queensland.
“We have liaised extensively with Cairns City Council and various Queensland Government State Agencies, to deliver a premium quality, environmentally sensitive development that will protect local environmental values,” he added.
Multiplex’s Cairns project team includes local construction firm LDI Constructions.
Construction of the first stage comprising 46 lots and the first stage of the marina is due for completion in late 2006.
