THE Queensland government is considering a ministerial call in of the approved Costco warehouse at North Lakes.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jeff Seeney said he had issued a proposed call in notice to allow parties 15 business days to have their say on whether or not the development involves state interests and should be called in.
“Moreton Bay Regional Council approved the development, however the approval has since been appealed by two separate parties in the Planning and Environment Court.
“I want to make it perfectly clear that this does not mean the project will necessarily be approved. I will consider all applications before making a final decision,” he added.
Seeney said he was responding to a request from the applicant, who was concerned that the appeals in the Planning and Environment Court will put delivery of the development at risk.
This was the second time the Newman Government had considered a ministerial call in under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009.
