AFTER been missing in action for a fortnight, Sydney's residential auction market returned last Saturday.
According to Australian Property Monitors’ Home Price Guide, the number of listings and sales doubled last Saturday when compared to a week earlier.
A total of 326 properties were auctioned and 199 were sold resulting in a clearance rate of 64.2%. A week earlier there were 151 auctions and 96 sales.
Last Saturday, $144.7 million worth of residential properties were sold compared with just $69.5 million a week earlier.
In Melbourne, it was a different story.
Melbourne’s residential property auction market which has been taking it all in its stride for the past few weeks, stumbled last Saturday.
Two hundred and one properties went under the hammer and 141 were sold, down from 697 auctions and 444 sales a week earlier.
The total value of properties sold was $51.6 million – down from $207.6 million.
