AUCTION listings continue to climb higher in the leadup to the holiday season.
National
According to Domain, there were 2,764 listings last weekend of which 1,919 went under the hammer and 1,380 sold.
Volumes totalled $1,213.6 million, the median house and unit sale prices were $1,220,000 and $765,500.
The clearance rate weakened slightly to 71.9%.
This is lower than the previous weekend’s 73.2% where there were 2,580 listings, 2,119 auctions and 1,552 sales totalling $1,392.5 million. However, clearances are higher than last year’s 69.6% where 1,427 homes were listed, 1,343 were auctioned and 935 sold totalling $1,222.5 million.
Sydney
Sydney clearances remain stable despite an increase in listings. Of the 1,075 homes listed, 738 auctions and 526 were reported. Clearances were 71.3%.
Volumes totalled $560.9 million, the median house and unit sale prices were $1,761,000 and $1,004,000.
Clearances are stable from 71.1% in the previous weekend from 992 listings, 834 auctions and 593 sales totalling $654 million. Last year it was 72.4% from 727 listings, 671 auctions and 486 sales totalling $755.8 million.
Melbourne
Melbourne clearances fell sharply to 69.3%.
Of the 1,275 homes listed, 905 auctions and 627 sales were recorded. Volumes totalled $504.8 million, the median house and unit sale prices were $1,112,500 and $685,750.
In the previous weekend the rate was 73% from 1,210 listings, 981 auctions and 716 sales totalling $568.4 million. Last year it was 69% from 492 listings, 487 auctions and 336 sales totalling $369.5 million.
Canberra
The capital’s clearance rate rebounded to 85%. According to Domain, there were 108 listings, 89 auctions and 76 sales.
Volumes soared to $60.487 million and the median sale price was $950,000.
Brisbane
Brisbane also performed strongly with clearances of 82%. Of the 148 homes listed, 94 went under the hammer and 77 sold.
Volumes totalled $41.105 million and the median sale price was $907,500.
Adelaide
After recording its busiest Saturday ever in the previous weekend, activity remains strong in Adelaide.
Last weekend saw 158 homes listed, 93 auctions and 74 sales were reported. Sales totalled $46.33 million and the median sale price was $808,000.
Perth
Western Australia reported a 40% rate, according to Corelogic. There were 24 listings, five auctions and two sales. At the same time, 646 homes changed hands privately.
Hobart
Tasmania did not report any auctions but 175 properties sold privately.
Darwin
The Northern Territory reported five auctions but the properties failed to sell. Meanwhile 29 homes sold privately.
